We're excited to introduce something a little different at To The Moon.

Hosted by independent film producer Danaë K. Grieef and director Sam Zawadi, The Audition Room is a practical, three-hour workshop that gives actors the opportunity to experience a simulated casting process for an independent film, from their initial self-tape through to an in-person callback.

Here's how it works:

Submit your self-tape
Once you've booked, you'll receive a short scene and character brief to prepare, record and submit ahead of the workshop, just as you would for a real audition.

Step into the audition room
You'll be invited to an in-person callback, where you'll work directly with Sam as director, exploring your performance across multiple takes, responding to direction and experimenting with different choices.

Get real feedback
Receive personalised feedback from both a director and producer. We'll explore what worked in your original tape, how your performance comes across on camera, and how you're perceived from a filmmaker's perspective.

Inside independent film
We'll finish with an informal Q&A with Danaë, drawing on her extensive experience in Melbourne's independent film industry. Hear about how the industry works, what filmmakers look for in actors, and practical ways to maximise your opportunities.

With a maximum of just eight actors, everyone gets the chance to work, experiment and receive individual attention in a supportive environment.
